Research Context
Guanyin Crossing the Sea, among the most dramatic Dehua subjects. Per Rijksmuseum records, bears He Chaozong's square maker's mark on reverse; dated to Kangxi era (c. 1675–1699); shows some firing cracks. Entered the Netherlands via VOC trade routes. From the Westendorp collection, bequeathed 1968 via the Royal Asian Art Society.
