Research Context

Per Met API (objectID 51042): artist identified as Su Xuejin (1869–1919), one of the most important modern-era Dehua porcelain sculptors. Su won a gold medal at the 1915 Panama–Pacific International Exposition — the first international exposition honor for Dehua ware, marking its transition from traditional craft to modern art ceramics.
